Canada Bans MP George Galloway, Respect Party, UK Web Petition: "Let Him Speak: Allow George Galloway To Speak In Canada"

Proposal to Rename the Nation of Canada (our response to banning Galloway) March 20th, 2009 Ladies and Gentlemen, fellow dissenters, now that the gov't has banned the evil terrorist MP George Galloway (of the Respect Party, UK) from our fair shores, I would like to propose a motion, that we now officially rename our formerly proud, and allegedly "free and democratic" nation to the "Republic of Canabananas"! Do I hear any seconders?? ...Thankyou! I further propose that everyone who opposes the War in Afghanistan immediately call The Dept. Of Public Safety, turn themselves in or leave an address of where you can be picked up, and thus, ensure that the new "Republic of Canabananas" is safe from us dissenters who threaten "national security" (the military-pharmaceutical-oil-credit-finance-media-industrial-complex), or at least, request deportation and asylum in a country that still respects the public opinion, freedom of speech, and other rights and freedoms. Please have your map of the world ready and be prepared to play "Name that Country". Now, just think! The massive "make work project" to build concentration camps to house all those dissenters may even save the economy! OK. Well, maybe not. There likey wouldn't be enough taxpayers left to pay the salaries and gold-plated pensions of our loving trusted servants in Ottawa and fund the corporate bail out efforts. Dang! But, hey, Canabananas will be safe for Bush, Cheney, Rice et al, more wars, pipelines, propaganda, etc, and in a perfect position to become the 51st State of the United Police States of Amerika. Oh, we already are? SPP? Oh yes, silly me! Must be the water. Of course, if anyone has anything against my little proposal, I suggest they write to PM Harper and your own MP, as well as the local paper immediately, and let them know how much "we the slaves" support them in banning Mr. Galloway, arresting Splitting the Sky, and how unwelcome former members of the Bush regime are here in this, "your country", known to some still as Canada. Or does anyone still feel that desperate need to "remain silent" and "anonymous", hmmm? ![]() (coming in May 2009 to Calgary!) That's the way the rightwing, last-ditch dead-enders of Bushism in Ottawa conduct their business. Kenney is quite a card. A quick trawl establishes he's a gay-baiter, gung-ho armchair warrior, with an odd habit of exceeding his immigration brief. Three years ago he attacked the pro-western Lebanese prime minister, Fuad Siniora, for being ungrateful to Canada for its support of Israeli bombardment of his country. Most curiously of all, in 2006 he addressed a rally of the so-called People's Mujahideen of Iran, a Waco-style cult, banned in the European Union as a terrorist organisation. On one level being banned by such a man is like being told to sit up straight by the hunchback of Notre Dame or being lectured on due diligence by Conrad Black. On another, for a Scotsman to be excluded from Canada is like being turned away from the family home. But what are my views on Afghanistan which the Canadian government does not want its people to hear? I've never been to Afghanistan, nor have I ever met a Taliban, but my first impression into the parliamentary vellum on the subject was more than two decades ago. At the time the fathers of the Taliban were "freedom fighters", paraded at US Republican and British Tory conferences. Who knows, maybe even the Canadian right extolled these god-fearing opponents of communism. I did not, however. On the eve of their storming of Kabul I told Margaret Thatcher that she "had opened the gates to the barbarians" and that "a long, dark night would now descend upon the people of Afghanistan". With the same conviction, I say to the Canadian and other Nato governments today that your policy is equally a profound mistake. From time to time and with increased regularity it is a crime. Like the bombardment of wedding parties and even funerals or the presiding over a record opium crop, which under our noses finds its way coursing through the veins of young people from Nova Scotia to Newcastle upon Tyne. But it is worse than a crime, as Tallyrand said, it's a blunder. The Afghans have never succumbed to foreign occupation, heaven knows the British empire tried, tried and failed again. Not even Alexander the Great succeeded, and whoever else he is, minister Kenney is no Alexander the Great. Young Canadian soldiers are dying in significant numbers on Afghanistan's plains. Their families are entitled to know how many of us believe this adventure to be similarly doomed and that genuine support for troops - British, Canadian and other - means bringing them home and changing course. To ban a five-times elected British MP from addressing public events or keeping appointments with television and radio programmes is a serious matter. Kenney's "spokesman" told the Sun, "Galloway's not coming in ... end of story." Alas for him, it's not. Canada remains a free country governed by law and my friends are even now seeking a judicial review. And there are other ways I can address those Canadians who wish to hear me. More than half a century ago Paul Robeson, one of the greatest men who ever lived, was forbidden to enter Canada not by Ottawa but by Washington, which had taken away his passport. But he was still able to transfix a vast crowd of Vancouver's mill hands and miners with a 17-minute telephone concert, culminating in a rendition of the Ballad of Joe Hill. Technology has moved on since then. And so from coast to coast, minister Kenney notwithstanding, I will be heard - one way or another. • George Galloway is Respect MP for Bethnal Green and Bow gallowayg@parliament.uk SOURCE: http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2009/mar/21/george-galloway-canada/print CANADIANS HAVE THEIR SAY: The Criminality of Our Canadian Government Dear Mr. Ben Lobb M.P., Pathetic is one word that comes to mind in banning a peace activist and 4 time elected British MP who is vocal and bravely fights against the injustice that the Canadian government supports. Rather than engage and debate a peaceful activist, the Canadian government would declare him a threat to national security and not allow him across the border to talk to fellow peace supporters and church groups. To quote a fellow activist; "I'm sadly losing faith in our laws that does not allow for war criminals like George W. Bush having free access into our country Canada, former president George W. Bush, a man who has admitted to torture and yet the MP of the British Government: George Galloway is barred entrance because of his opinions about our occupation in Afghanistan ? It is not your duty as our elected official in Ottawa to see to it our laws are up-held and followed through upon? What laws has George Galloway broken and how does it compare to the countless laws broken by George W. Bush and his administration. There were thousands of Canadian signatures from hundreds of organizations asking for our government to follow through and enforce our law, section 34(1) of the Immigration Act to ban Mr. George W. Bush from entering our country. How many signatures did your government receive to bar Mr. Galloway?" I beg you to pull our
country out of the hypocritical abyss that Prime Minister Harper and
Immigration Minister Jason Kenney seem intent on driving into.
By
allowing the self-admitted, torture authorizer, George W Bush into our
country last week our government chose to ignore it's own laws and make
an exception for one of the most despised criminals on the planet. Many
of us felt disgraced by this visit and worked hard to get some of you
to do your job.
There are hundreds of organizations around the world working to bring the Bush Administration to justice.
Our
emails and petitions were ignored as nobody in our government showed
any backbone to fight for human rights and the Geneva Conventions.
Quite
sad considering many Canadians have died to protect these rights.
Enabling a war criminal to collect his blood money is what was
accomplished last week.
We would expect nothing less from
Calgary Oil executives (many of which are from Dallas and Houston) who
see nothing but dollar signs and tend to be overwhelmingly racist but
for our elected officials to stay silent and be complicit in aiding and
abetting the Torturer and Thief is quite pathetic.
There is
no doubt that the Bush administration purposefully lied the United
States and the World, into war, and sent the planet into chaos for
what was always an obvious oil grab.
These blatant lies have lead to hundreds of thousands of slaughtered Iraqi's and millions displaced.
Is this not a war crime of the highest degree ?
Mr.
Bush and Mr. Cheney both admitted to authorizing water boarding before
leaving their disgraced office. This is fact. Undeniable.
Waterboarding
is a form of torture which Japanese officers were executed for
administering after WWII. This is fact also undeniable.
Is torture not a crime of the highest degree ?
There is no grey area here. Mass murder, torture shouldn't be up for debate.
The fact that you have chosen to look the other way is not politically correct, it's reprehensible and most cowardly.
This should be required reading for all of you. http://www.thewashingtonnote.com/archives/2009/03/some_truths_abo/ Less than 1% of the tens of thousands of detainees were even combatants!
(edited here for sake of space) This has been a disgraceful week for our country
and i hope that you find the decency and the courage to follow your
moral compass and start pulling Canada out of the terrible abyss that
Prime MInister Harper and his minions have throw us into.
I
call on you to reverse British MP Galloway's banishment as it's nothing
more than an attack on free speech and blatant anti-war censorship.
I also call on you to investigate the obstruction of justice and subsequent beating of Mr John Boncore (by the Calgary Police ) Mr Boncore showed more courage than anybody in the nation last week by attempting a citizens arrest on Mr Bush. He deserves a medal. History
will not look fondly upon those that aided and abetted war criminals.
ask yourself this. Does that label fit President Bush and his cronies
or the peace activists that have been banned and beaten in the past 6
days ?
This country is almost unrecognizable. It's time you fought for it.
I thank you for taking the time to consider this letter and to reply,
yours truly

Mr. Alykhan Velshi
c/o The Honorable Jason Kenny MP
Minister of Immigration
House of Commons
Ottawa ON Canada
Dear Mr. Alykhan Velshi
Of what crime
was George Galloway convicted - that you or Minister Kenny can compare
him to Martha Stewart's situation? Why not George W. Bush, a self
admitted war monger, or former general Colin Powell who lied to the
United Nations about "weapons of mass destruction" that led to an
illegal war in Iraq - which by any definition was and still is a war
crime?
When Lord Conrad Black is released from U.S. prison will Mr. Kenny allow him entry to Canada?

How can I have any faith in our
government when they allow George Bush Jr. - a known an admitted
supporter of torture- into the country, but ban George Galloway
based solely on his opinions about the war?
This clearly shows that the government is looking out for their own interests and not the interests of the people.
There
were thousands of signatures from hundreds of organizations asking for
the government simply to follow its own law, section 34(1) of the
Immigration Act ,and ban George W. The government did not act upon the
will of the people.
Then days later, the government chose to ban
British MP Galloway using the very law it earlier ignored. How many
signatures of the people were collected to ban Galloway? Zero.
This favoritism and the fact that the act of deciding whether or not to
use the law is based on the governments own interest is extremely
shameful. I doubt you personally had any role in making
these decisions, but I hope you will do what you can to make sure
whoever did gets punished or removed from office. Right now, I
feel embarrassed to be a Canadian.
Respectfully yours,
Drew Noftle
